Armamid (PA6/66)

Filled and modified compositions on the basis of polyamide-6 (PA-6) are produced by R&P POLYPLASTIC under the ARMAMID trademark.

PA-6 — Russia’s most popular constructional thermolayer, widely applied in compounding. The scope of its application is wider than that of other engineering plastics and is determined not only by the set of its properties (high oil and gasoline resistance, resistance to hydrocarbon products, mechanical durability and rigidity, high shock resistance, heat resistance and anti-friction properties), but also by its availability as it is produced in Russia from domestic raw materials. The shortcoming of the material is its rather high moisture absorption, which limits its application in humid environments for the production of precision products.

Basic properties

high oil and gasoline resistance, resistance to hydrocarbon products, mechanical durability and rigidity, high shock resistance, heat resistance and anti-friction properties

Application

ARMAMID is used to produce parts and products of constructional, electrotechnical and anti-friction application that function in conditions of increased loads and temperatures: body parts for electric tools, interior and exterior elements, parts for the electrical equipment of cars, bearing cages, gear wheels and cog wheels, parts for various pumps, parts for wiring and electric distribution products (including those of low-combustible design), parts for railroads, transport, medicine, special equipment, and more.

Modifications

Development of compositions on the basis of PA-6 through the introduction of fiber glass, mineral fillers, and other modifying components makes it possible to significantly modify the properties of the basic material:

  • achieve higher heat resistance and frost resistance;
  • increase rigidity and durability;
  • increase elasticity;
  • increase material resistance to atmospheric factors;
  • provide additional properties in terms of combustibility;
  • reduce hydrophility;
  • increase tear resistance.

Processing

Materials of the ARMAMID line are processed on universal automatic forming machines. With a moisture content higher than 0.2%, preliminary drying before processing at a temperature of 85-90°C for 4 hours is required. Melt temperature when molding is 240-260°C. The temperature of the form-lining of hollow mold is 60-80°C.
